MLC Women Earn First Win

RESULTS

LAKEVILLE, Minn. - The Martin Luther College women's tennis team opened UMAC play with an 8-1 win over North Central at Lifetime Fitness Center on Saturday.

The Knights opened strong, winning two of the three doubles matches. The number one team of Anna Hemmelman and Rachel Riediger won 8-2, and the number three team of Morgan Shevey and Molly Paggi won their match 8-3.

In singles, the Knights swept all six matches. Hemmelman, Riedieger, Shevey, Paggi and Anastasia Bornschlegl each won in straight sets, while Ella Loersch overcame a first set loss to win her number three match in three sets.

MLC improved to 1-4 on the season and 1-0 in UMAC play with the win. NCU fell to 0-6 this season and 0-4 in conference play in defeat. 

The Knights are scheduled to return to action on March 24 when they travel to St. Scholastica for a match scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
