NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College men's tennis team earned its first win of the season by the final of 8-1 against Minnesota Morris on Saturday.
The Knights opened strong, winning all three doubles matches by the scores of 8-6 (number one team of
Justin Marshall and Phil Schroeder), 8-2 (number two team of
Josh Koelpin and
Caleb Koelpin) and 8-4 (number three team of
Justin Steinke and
Ethan Schultz).
In singles, the Cougars took the match at the number one spot, but the other five MLC players (Steinke, Phil Schroeder,
Josh Koelpin, Schultz and
Josh Schroeder) each on their matches in straight sets to secure the win.
MLC moved to 1-4 on the season and 1-1 in UMAC play following the win. UMM fell to 0-5 overall and 0-3 in league play after the loss.
The Knights will return to action on Friday, April 7, when they travel to UMM to face the Cougars in a non-conference match scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
