Women Win 6-3 at BLC

RESULTS

MANKATO, Minn. - The Martin Luther College women's tennis team continued its strong conference season with a 6-3 win at Bethany Lutheran on Thursday.

The Knights started slowly as the Vikings took two of three in doubles play. Only the number one team of Anna Hemmelman and Rachel Riediger won a point with their 8-5 win.

Singles were a different story, however, as Hemmelman, Riediger, Ella Loersch, Morgan Shevey and Anatastasia Bornschlegl each won their matches in straight sets to clinch the win and the season sweep of the Vikings.

MLC improved its record to 5-6 overall and 5-2 in conference play with the win. Earlier in the week, the Knights clinched a spot in the UMAC Postseason Tournament. BLC fell to 3-14 overall and 3-4 in league play in defeat.

The Knights will return to action tomorrow (Friday, April 21) when they host St. Scholastica.
