Men's Tennis Clinches UMAC Tourney Berth with UMM Win

RESULTS

MORRIS, Minn. - The Martin Luther College men's tennis team clinched a spot in the UMAC Postseason Tournament with an 8-1 win at University of Minnesota Morris on Friday.

The Knights clinched the fourth and final spot in the tournament thanks to a season sweep of the Cougars in a pair of UMAC matches.

MLC opened strong with a clean sweep of the three doubles matches by the scores of 8-6, 8-4 and 8-6.

In singles, the Cougars were able to take the number one seeded match, but Justin Steinke, Phil Schroeder, Ethan Schultz, Nicolas Gartner and Caleb Koelpin all won their matches to secure the team win.

The Knights moved to 3-9 overall and 2-6 in UMAC play with the win. UMM fell to 0-12 on the season and 0-7 in league play with the loss.

MLC will return to action on Monday, May 1, when it hosts Buena Vista University in a non-conference match.
