Men's Tennis Opens Season with Loss at SMU

RESULTS

WINONA, Minn. - The Martin Luther College men's tennis team opened its 2018 season with a 9-0 loss to Saint Mary's University (Minn.) at Winona Tennis Center on Friday.

The Knights opened the match with three defeats in doubles by the scores of 0-8, 1-8 and 2-8. The team of Justin Steinke and Ethan Schultz played the number one doubles match. Josh Koelpin and Joel Koelpin teamed up to play the number two match, while Nicolas Gartner and Christopher Walther played in the number three spot.

In singles, the Cardinals completed the sweep with straight set wins in all six matches.

MLC fell to 0-1 on the season in defeat. SMU improved to 1-0 with the win.

The Knights will return to action on Saturday, February 10, when they face Bethany Lutheran and Simpson in a triangular at Lifetime Fitness Center in Lakeville, Minn.
