Second Half Struggles Lead to V-Hawks Win

Box Score LA CROSSE, Wis. - The Martin Luther College women's basketball team struggled in the second half of a 71-38 loss at Vitbero University on Monday.

Both teams struggled on the offensive end to open the game as the V-Hawks took a 22-18 lead into the half.

Viterbo took control to open the third quarter with a 17-2 run on the way to taking a 48-26 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

The V-Hawks continued their run in the final period, out-scoring the Knights 23-12 in the fourth quarter on the way to the win.

MLC held Viterbo to 23.7 percent shooting in the first half, but the V-Hawks shot 51.1 percent and went 8-18 from beyond the three-point arc in the final two quarters. MLC struggled throughout on the offensive end, shooting 23.2 percent for the game.

Sydney Cody led MLC with seven points off the bench, while Ruth Buchholz grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.

MLC fell to 0-5 on the season in defeat. Viterbo improved to 5-4 with the win.

The Knights will return to action on Wednesday, November 28, when they host Hamline in a game scheduled to tip off at 5:30 p.m.
