MLC Women Lose Two in Triangular

SARTELL, Minn. - The Martin Luther College women's tennis team lost both matches of a triangular held at STa-FIT on Saturday. The Knights lost the opener against Northwestern (Iowa) 7-2 before losing 9-0 against the host team from Saint Benedict.

NWC 7, MLC 2 (RESULTS)

The Knights played the Red Raiders tough in doubles, but fell in all three matches by the scores of 9-8 (10-6), 8-5 and 8-4.

In singles, MLC was able to win two points. Anna Hemmelman won her number one singles match 6-0 and 6-2, while Anastasia Bornschlegl won 6-1 and 6-1 in number six singles. 

CSB 9, MLC 0 (RESULTS)

Shortly after the first match against NWC, the Knights faced a tough CSB team that entered the match with a 5-1 record and swept the Red Raiders 9-0 earlier in the day.

In doubles, CSB won the three matches by the scores of 8-3, 8-6 and 8-1, and then took all six singles matches in straight sets to secure the 9-0 win.

MLC fell to 1-4 on the season following the two losses.

The Knights will return to action on March 17 when they travel to UW-Superior for a non-conference match.
