STORM LAKE, Iowa - The Martin Luther College men's tennis team earned its first win of the season at Buena Vista University on Wednesday by the final score of 5-4.
The Knights fell behind early, winning only one of the three doubles matches. The team of
Josh Schroeder and
Caleb Koelpin earned that lone point in number three doubles with an 8-4 win.
MLC made up ground in singles, winning four of the six matches to secure the overall team win.
Josh Koelpin won in number two singles 6-3, 6-2 to lead the way.
Joel Koelpin, Schroeder and
Caleb Koelpin also won in straight sets in the fourth, fifth and sixth spots in the line-up to account for the the other three points.
MLC improved to 1-4 on the season with the win. BVU fell to 4-5 in defeat.
The Knights will return to action on April 5 when they travel to play North Central University in the first match of the UMAC season.
