RESULTS

OWATONNA, Minn. - The Martin Luther College women's tennis team won a back-and-forth match against Minnesota Morris 5-4 at Owatonna Tennis Center on Tuesday.

The Knights took an early 2-1 lead thanks to a pair of doubles wins. Anna Hemmelman and Rachel Schewe teamed up to win the number one doubles match 9-7, while the number three team of Ella Loersch and Sophia Birner cruised to an 8-1 win.

The two teams split the six singles matches, but three wins was all the Knights would need to secure the team win. Hemmelman won her number one singles match in straight sets, while Birner and Anastasia Bornschlegl also won their number five and six matches in straight sets.

MLC improved to 3-5 overall and 2-0 in UMAC play with the win. UMM fell to 1-4 this season and 0-3 in UMAC play with the loss.

The Knights are scheduled to return to action on Friday, April 13, when they host North Central.
