Knights Drop Match 8-1 to UNW

RESULTS

OWATONNA, Minn. - The Martin Luther College women's tennis team lost its conference match against Northwestern 8-1 at Owatonna Tennis Center on Tuesday.

The Eagles jumped to an early 3-0 lead thanks to a sweep of the doubles matches by the scores of 8-4, 8-4 and 8-1.

Number one singles player Anna Hemmelman came back after dropping the first set to win her match 2-6, 6-4 and 1-0 (10-8), but that would be the only point the Knights could muster on the day as the Eagles clinched the team win.

MLC fell to 3-6 on the season and 2-1 in UMAC play in defeat. UNW improved to 6-8 overall and 1-0 in league play with the win.

The Knights will return to action at the Owatonna Tennis Center on Thursday, April 19, when they play Minnesota Morris in a match scheduled to start at 10 a.m.
