Box Score 2 The Martin Luther College women's tennis team closed the UMAC season with a doubleheader split. MLC lost 5-4 to UW-Superior at home Wednesday afternoon, but finished the day with a 9-0 win over Crown at Lifetime Fitness Center in Lakeville, Minn.

RESULTS)
NEW ULM, Minn. - MLC fell just short in the opener in a 5-4 loss to UW-Superior at home.
The Knights earned a pair of wins in doubles as the number one team of
Anna Hemmelman and
Rachel Riediger won 8-5, and the number three team of
Sophia Birner and
Ella Loersch won 8-6. The Yellowjackets' lone doubles point came thanks to an 8-1 win in the number two match.
Hemmelman and Riediger scored the team's two points in singles thanks to straight sets victories, but the Knights fell in the other four matches to give the Yellowjackets the 5-4 team win.
MLC 9, Crown 0 (
RESULTS)
LAKEVILLE, Minn. - The Knights finished the day with a 9-0 sweep of Crown to close the conference season.
MLC swept the doubles matches thanks to wins by the scores of 8-2, 8-1 and 8-0.
In singles, all six MLC players won in straight sets. Hemmelman's win in number one singles clinched an undefeated (7-0) singles record in UMAC play atop the MLC line-up.
The Knights moved to 6-8 overall and 4-3 following the split.
MLC will close the regular season with a match at Concordia-Moorhead on Saturday, April 28.
