Women Close Regular Season with 7-2 Win at Concordia

RESULTS

MOORHEAD, Minn. - The Martin Luther College women's tennis team closed its regular season with a 7-2 win at Concordia-Moorhead on Saturday.

The Knights jumped to a big lead early thanks to a 3-0 sweep in doubles play. The teams of Anna Hemmelman and Rachel Riediger won in number one doubles 8-4, while the numbers two team of Morgan Shevey and Rachel Schewe, as well as the number three team of Sophia Birner and Ella Loersch, won their matches by the scores of 8-1 and 8-6, respectively. 

Hemmelman won her number one singles match in straight sets, and was followed by straight sets wins by Shevey, Birner and Loersch to clinch the team win. 

MLC moved to 7-8 on the season with the win. Concordia fell to 3-17 in defeat.

The Knights will return to action on Monday, April 30, when they play in the semi-final round of the UMAC Postseason Tournament.
