MLC Women Shut Out Storm 1-0

Box Score ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. - The Martin Luther College women's soccer team shut out the Storm of Crown College 1-0 on Wednesday.

The two teams remained scoreless for the first 43 minutes of the first half until sophomore Hannah Schroeder struck for the Knights. Schroeder dribbled into the box alone against the Storm keeper and found the lower left corner of the goal to give the Knights the lead and momentum heading into the half.

The goal was Schroeder's third of the season, tying her for the team lead.

The Storm looked for the equalizer throughout the second half, but the MLC defense and midfield did a good job of keeping them away from scoring territory as the Knights held on for the one-goal win.

The shutout was the second of the season for MLC keeper Grace Sievert.

The win was MLC's fourth straight over the Storm in the all-time series, and its 14th in the last 15 games against Crown.

MLC improved to 2-7-1 on the season and 1-4-1 in UMAC play with the win. Crown fell to 3-5-1 overall and 1-3-1 in league play in defeat.

The Knights will return to action on Saturday, October 9, when they travel to Minnesota Morris for a game scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m.
