Men Open Track Outdoor Season at Wayne State

RESULTS

WAYNE, Neb. - The Martin Luther College men's track and field team opened the 2022 outdoor season against some of the toughest competition they will face this spring at Wayne State College on Saturday.

In a field that included schools from NCAA Division I, Division II, and NAIA, the Knights still posted a strong collection of finishes to open the season as the lone NCAA Division III school in attendance.

Joseph Ehlke took home the top finish of the day for MLC, winning the Triple Jump with a top jump of 12.26 meters. Ehlke also finished fifth in the Long Jump, trailing a fourth-place finish in that event by teammate and fellow newcomer Eric Raasch.

Lucas Martin also scored a pair of strong finishes, taking eighth in the 100 Meter Dash with a time of 11.59 while also tying for sixth place in the High Jump with a top jump of 1.65 meters.

Elsewhere on the track, Camden Sulzle took second place in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase with a time of 11:05.47. Luke Wegner (ninth) and Nathan Pausma (10th) each finished in the top 10 in the 1500 Meters, while Pausma and Joshua Zander both took home top 20 finishes in a deep 800 Meters field.

In the throwing events, Gustav Wenz finished 23rd in the Discus, while Isaiah Hahm took 24th in the Shot Put and 27th in the Discus.
