St. Paul, MN - The 2023 UMAC women's soccer postseason awards were released on Tuesday and the MLC women garnered five accolades for a season where they finished fifth in the standings.
Katie Schoeneck and
Lydia Krenke were named Second Team All-Conference. Schoeneck finished her freshman season leading the team in goals (14), points (30), and shots on goal (49). Her 14 goals scored also put her in a ninth-place tie with
Tami Schmidt ('03) in MLC single-season history.
Krenke was second on the team with three goals scored and finished third in shots on goal with 16.
Rachel Schoeneck,
Anna Borgwardt, and
Lilianne Zimpelmann received Honorable Mention recognition. Borgwardt and Zimpelmann stepped up in their roles as defenders and provided resistance to opposing offenses all season long. Schoeneck was aggressive on the attack and finished second on the team in shots on net (24).
MLC would also earn the Team Sportsmanship Award and
Hannah Schroeder was named the MLC recipient of the Individual Sportsmanship Award, given to one player on each team who best exemplifies sportsmanship during the season.
The senior maintained a positive attitude in her final season with the program after being limited to just four games played due to injury. Schroeder completed her Knights career with 20 goals scored, putting her in ninth all-time in MLC history.
