Breanna Olson to Lead MLC Track and Field

New Ulm, MN - Martin Luther College has officially named Breanna Olson as the new head coach of MLC track and field (men and women).

Olson will take over for Doug Lange, who was at the helm of MLC track and field for 18 seasons.

Olson wrapped up her first season as the interim head coach in track and field in 2023, where she led the MLC women to their first UMAC championship in program history, while the men took second at the UMAC championships.

Prior to her service at MLC, Olson coached track and field for five seasons at New Ulm High School, including two seasons as the head coach of the program.

Olson joined the MLC faculty in the 2019-20 school year as a member of the physical education department and began her coaching duties at the helm of the women's cross country program in the fall of 2020.

"I'm thankful for all that Coach Lange did for the program," said Olson. "His support, encouragement, and mentorship have meant a great deal. I'm excited to keep the momentum going with MLC track and field. I am so blessed to be here right now."

Olson is the only head coach in MLC history to win a UMAC championship in two separate sports, earning the achievement in women's cross country (2021, 2022) and women's track and field (2023). She was also named UMAC Coach of the Year in both sports for 2022-2023.
