New Ulm, MN - Mason Cox leaves MLC near or at the top of most of the Knights' baseball records. Cox wasted no time getting to work on the diamond and made an impact right off the bat as a freshman for the Knights. 

The left fielder was named Honorable Mention All-UMAC in his freshman season and First Team All-Conference as a sophomore, junior, and senior. Cox's other notable achievements were being selected as a Rawlings Gold Glove Finalist and having the fifth-best batting average in Division III (.476) in 2022.

In 2023, Cox was also voted to the CSC ( College Sports Communicators ) Academic All-District Team in addition to his All-UMAC season. The senior finished the 2024 season with the second-best batting average in Division III (.469).

In 115 games played, Cox amassed 170 hits, 84 runs, 12 home runs, and 75 RBI, but also performed well as a defender, recording a .977 fielding percentage primarily out in left field.

Head coach and father of Mason, Randy Cox, had the following statements about Cox:

"I will always remember when Mason hit for the cycle against Alfred University on our Florida trip.  Having a player accomplish this was fun to watch.  More impressive was to watch him go 7-7 with three triples and 9 RBI in a single game, this was a surreal experience to me as his coach, but also as his Dad.

Mason worked hard in the weight room to increase his strength and power, a must for any individual to succeed in the sport of baseball.

His four years of playing for me went by quickly, he will be missed in the line-up next season.  His leadership and knowledge of the game will follow him as he pursues his Masters Degree and Graduate Assistant position in coaching baseball next season."
