Gideon Heins was named UMAC Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week (2/9-2/15) and was one of four MLC student-athletes (R.J. Perry, Adam Loberger, and Wilhelmina Wenz) to take home UMAC Athlete of the Week honors, as the freshman went undefeated (4-0) on Saturday, February 14, in a pair of matches against Ripon College and Crown College in Owatonna.
In the Knights' 5-2 victory over Ripon, Heins and
Isaiah Scharf won in No. 2 Doubles 6-3, while the freshman also won in No. 3 Singles 4-6, 6-1, 10 (10-5) against his Redhawks' opponent.
In MLC's 4-3 win over Crown in a nonconference matchup, Heins was instrumental in the Knights' win, taking No. 2 Doubles along with Scharf again 6-2, while also winning in No. 3 Singles 6-1, 6-4.
Heins and the MLC men's tennis team will be back on the court on Saturday, February 28, at 3 p.m. against Lawrence in Appleton.
