Women's tennis pulls out clutch win at Buena Vista

Box Score Storm Lake, Iowa - The MLC women's tennis team won a close and back-and-forth tennis match at Buena Vista yesterday, 4-3.

MLC swept the Beavers in doubles play to wrap up one point in their favor. Britney Prahl/Emily Gronholz took down their No. 1 opponent 6-4, while Rebekah Schroeder/Elizabeth Bigelow also claimed No. 2 doubles by a final of 6-4. Mathilde Bodenbender-Benner/Callie Bivens ensured the sweep 6-0 in No. 3 doubles.

With Buena Vista winning in No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 singles, MLC received positive outcomes via Allie Hinz in No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-1. Bivens gave the Knights another point with another 6-1, 6-1 victory.

Prahl came in clutch for the Knights and ultimately decided the outcome, coming back from a deficit in the match to take it 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (13-11) in a nailbiting third-set tiebreaker.

With the non conference win on Wednesday, MLC will now shift its focus back to UMAC competition when they head up to UW-Superior for a match on Saturday, April 11, at 11 a.m.
