Witkowski Sets Single-Game Scoring Record, Scores 1,000th Career Point

NEW ULM, Minn. - Martin Luther College senior wing Emily Witkowski made history on Thursday night against Bethany Lutheran College, breaking the MLC women's basketball single-game scoring record with 37 points, and becoming the fourth player in program history to score 1,000 career points.

Witkowski entered the game with 963 points shy, but scored 19 points in the first half, and added 18 more in the second to reach the milestone late in the fourth quarter of the final home game of her career.

Witkowski joins Erica Babinec (2008-12/1,644 career points), Emma Babinec (2002-06/1551) and Grace Schultz (2014-18/1299) as members of that exclusive club.

Witkowski's 37 points broke the previous MLC single-game scoring record of 36 points set by Amy Bauer (January 20, 1996) and Rachel Oblinger (January 31, 1997).

Witkowski and the Knights lost the game to Bethany Lutheran by the score of 95-76.
