NEW ULM, Minn. - Martin Luther College senior softball player
Elena Hoffman was named Second Team All-Region by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) on Monday.
Hoffman won the honor after a stellar final season in which she hit .460 with six home runs, 52 runs batted in (RBI), 19 walks and seven doubles to go with a .540 on-base percentage (OBP) and .710 slugging percentage (SLG).
Her 52 RBI set a new MLC single-season record and ranked ninth nationally, while she also ranked seventh in the nation in RBI per game (1.47).
The senior slugger was named First Team All-UMAC earlier this spring and finished her four-year career and MLC's all-time leader in home runs (23) and RBI (124) while tying for first in program history with a .404 career batting average.
Hoffman finished with those career records despite playing two seasons shortened by the COVID-19 pandemic, which included a sophomore season in 2020 in which she hit six home runs in only 10 games.
